Commentary: US Shift Seen to Pakistan, Afghanistan

Media reports say that the Bush Administration is trying to reassess its strategy in Afghanistan. They think that al-qaeda and Taliban are regrouping. They pose threat to Europeans and Americans.

In my opinion, al-qaeda and Taliban do not pose any treat to these mighty powers. How can these bearded men with AK-47 destroy the well-equipped army of western powers?

The Western powers spend billions of dollars on their intelligence agencies. They have failed to trace the whereabouts of al-qaeda and its leadership. To hide their failures they give wrong reports about the activities of Talibans in the tribal belt of Pakistan to please their governments.

The western power will commit a blunder if they intrude in the tribal belts of Pakistan. I think the way Musharraf is handling the situation is right. Pakistan army is gradually destroying the militant strongholds .
