UK relies on torture tactics of Pakistani agencies

Posted on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 09:59AM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

It is shocking to know that British government relies on torture tactics to extract information from suspects.

Reports surfaced in the British press when Pakistan's Adviser on Interior Rahman Malik visited London. Reported said there are dozens of people in the custody of Pakistani intelligence agencies who are suspected of committing crime on the British soil.

Instead of extraditing these people to UK, they have asked Pakistan government to extract information from them because MI-5 and MI-6 cannot torture these suspects in UK.

Commentary:US military deaths in Afghanistan region at 461

Posted on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 04:06PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

The US Defense Department says that more members 461 of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Of those, the military reports 324 were killed by hostile action.  Is this report correct?

The report is wrong. The US Defense Department is hiding the actual figure from the American public.

Wateen's deception

Posted on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 06:12AM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment | References8 References

Wateen claims that it has introduced WiMax in certain cities of Pakistan. I think their statement is misleading. If you visit their 'Coverage' page on their website, you will get the impression that it has implemented WiMax in all parts  of Karachi. Their content is misleading. They are providing WiMax in certain areas in Karachi.

It is strange to note that officials who are responsible to oversee these things are not paying attention to deception. Wateen must specify the areas where it has installed its systems on their corporate website.

Commentary: Conservatives keep grip of Iran parliament in vote

Posted on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 05:39PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

Media reports say that Iran's conservatives will come out as victorious. However, these elections cannot be called free and fair. Many leading reformists were barred from running in the elections to pave the way for conservative's victory.

It is tragic that Iranian Mullahs are repressing their people in the name of Islam and morality. These mullahs have been ruling the country since 1979 and they have failed to improve the lives of Iranians. Young men and women say that their future in the Islamic republic promises only disillusion and despair.

Iranian president had promised in his election campaign that he would improve the lives of poor Iranian people. However, when he came in power, he forgot his promise. I think Iranians are heading for another revolution.

CIA says that they have arrested Bin Laden Translator

Posted on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 10:54AM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

An Afghan national and bin Laden follower Rahim has been transferred from CIA custoday to Gitmo. CIA Director Michael V. Hayden describes him as tough and seasoned jihadist. They assert that he was trusted a facilitator and procurement specialist for bin Laden.

It is said that Rahim was captured in Lahore in August by Pakistani operatives.

In my opinion, CIA should not express delight over this incremental progress. These people are very quick in their ability to replace those who are lost.

Deadly suicide bomb attack in Pakistan

Posted on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 01:50PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in , , | CommentsPost a Comment

The Surgeon General of the Pakistan Army Lt. Gen. Mushtaq Ahmed Beg has been killed in a suicide bomb attack in Rawalpindi. The terrorists have increased their offensive against the Army which is evident by the fact that a serving lieutenant general has been killed in the attack. This is the sixth attack on the army personnel in six months. In these attack more than seventy armed forces personnel have been killed. Rawalpindi has the General Headquarters of the three armed forces of Pakistan which has made the military personnel a very easy target for the terrorist.

In a healthy development more than twenty thousand scholars of Islam have decried terrorism and have said that there is no place for terrorism in Islam. Suicide attack was unknown in Pakistan a few years back. This started in the aftermath of the US attack in Afghanistan and Iraq. I wonder if the political forces in the country will be able to find a solution of this problem.

Commentary: Israeli Embassy attacked by gunmen in Mauritania

Posted on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 07:53AM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

Media reports say that Militants fired at the the Israeli Embassy in Nouakchott, in Mauritania. These militants who call themselves Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb issued an statement saying that they carried out the attack in support of their brothers in Gaza. Three persons have been detained in connection with the attack by the Mauritania 's security forces.

Mauritanian government should arrest those people who carried out the attack. Otherwsie this will strain their relationship with Israel.

Allah and His prophet never have allowed Muslims to establish relationship with the Jews and carry out business transactions. However, we muslims have adopted a strange attitude towards Israel because of few Arab governments.

If Arab Muslims can establish friendly relations with India which is a hindu state. Why can’t they establish friendly relations with Israel.

Palestinian leadership are themselves responsible for their condition. Palestinians always try use Islam to garner Muslims support. It is strange they accept donations from Christian states.

Commentary: Rice offers Iran prospect of normal ties

Posted on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 04:36PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

The US Administration thinks that Iranian crisis can be resolved through. The US Secretary will express these views in her speech to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. She has requested Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities. It is learnt that the US will establish normal relationship with Iran if Iran follows their advise.

There is no doubt that Iran is a rogue state and it is responsible for acts of terrorism and supports terrorist organizations. But we cannot ask Iran to suspend its reprocessing activities. Iran is a signatory of NPT, which entitle it to carry out uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities.

We must find other ways to do that.

The big powers show a lot concern when a small state tries to acquire nuclear weapon. Have they ever tried to destroy their nuclear arsenal. Ten years have passed America has not signed the CTBT.

Commentary: Washington warns Iran over naval harassment

Posted on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 04:23AM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment | References1 Reference

Washington has issued a warning to Iran to stop its adventurism. Media reports say that five Iranian speedboats tried to target U.S. warships in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil-shipping route. Americans said that they dropped mysterious objects into the water.

In my opinion, both Americans and the Iranians are playing dirty game in the region to harass the Sunni Arab rulers. Neither Americans nor Iranians will accept that they are doing mischief. However, these two countries must realize that there actions are generating resentments. Now Arabs distrust their motives.

It is good to hear that Pakistani government has agreed to get international experts help in Ms. Bhutto’s murder investigation. It will help diffuse tension in the country over the official explanation.

Media reports say that a a small team of officers from the MPS Counter Terrorism Command are coming to Pakistan to assist Pakistan authorities in their investigation.

Commentary: Taslima on the run

Posted on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 04:25PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen , who become famous because of her blasphemous writings against Islam, is on the run from Indian Muslims. Indian Muslims are asking the government to banish her from India.

Religion is very touchy subject. One should deliberate on it very carefully. However, after reading her writings, we come to conclusion that she deliberately targeted Islam to become famous. We should not blame Islam for the repressive attitude of Muslim men. Islam has laid out golden rules of conduct to build a good human being. If someone does not follow these rules , Islam should not be targeted for this.

Taliban to annouce their government in November 2008

Posted on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at 04:22PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

The Guardian reports that 54% of Afghanistan is under Taliban control and they are getting closer to Kabul. They are of the opinion that soon the country will fall into the hands of Taliban.

Their reports are absolutely true. Taliban now control 90% of the Afghanistan. The US backed government has been confined to Kabul. The reports published in the western media about NATO success are untrue. The fact is that Taliban has severely crushed NATO and American forces. American and NATO forces are hiding the actual figure of the soldiers died in action. According to the special report of Arabic magazine ‘Al-ittehad’ , Taliban will announce their government in November , 2008.

Corruption rife in Afghanistan

Posted on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 04:08PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

Karazai admits that due to rampant corruption among the government officials. Afghan public has lost faith in the government and they turn towards Taliban to redress their woes.

We are witnessing construction boom in Kabul and other cities where villas are springing up. All these villas belong to government officials and members of the parliament.

Let us see how Mr. Karzai stop government officials and parliament members from sucking the blood of poor Afghan people.

Talk to Taliban

Posted on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 12:30AM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

NATO and the US-led coalition have failed to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan. Mounting civilian causalities are creating resentment among Afghans. Highways and cities are not safe. Taliban suicide bombers have forced well-armed NATO and US-led Coalition troops hide inside their bases.

In my opinion, peace will never come to Afghanistan unless the US and western power include Taliban in their talks. They made a blunder after Bonn conference by giving representations to warlords to counter Tablian.

European nations, Russians and Chinese should back US sanctions

Posted on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 12:23AM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

I agree with Dr. Rice that a nuclear weapon in the hands of Iranian Mullahs will destabilize the Middle East. Since 1979, they have been exporting terror and inciting their co-religionists in Sunni dominated countries to destabilize these countries.

International community will have to support US sanctions against Iran to force it to stop its nuclear enrichment. But it looks that European nations, Russians and Chinese are not willing to back or complement US sanction because of their lucrative business ties to Iran.

Afghan Foreign Minister: Iran is not supplying weapons to Talibans

Posted on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:58PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

The US insists that Iran is arming Taliban insurgents. U.S Defense Secretary Robert Gates has expressed the similar opinion.

The top US commander in Afghanistan, General Dan claimed on Thursday that they had intercepted a convoy carrying a number of advanced technology improvised explosive devices from.

However, Afghan Foreign Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta made a shocking statement on Friday that there was no evidence of Iran’s involvement in arms smuggling. They say Afghan intelligence are investigating the case but so far they have got no evidence that Iran is behind these arms smuggling.

Fresh Indian accusations

Posted on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 11:53PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

Top officials of the South Asian rivals reaffirmed their commitment to a nearly four-year military truce on Thursday.

The nuclear-armed neighbours have maintained a ceasefire since November 2003 along the Line of Control,.

The Indian foreign ministry had expressed that meeting would focus on reducing tensions along maritime borders. However , the fresh accusations from India ahead of the talks of Pakistani support for terror groups indicates that India is not interested in reducing tensions.

Whenever something happens in India, they point their fingers at Pakistan without conclusive evidence. Indian leaders should stop this childish attitude. World knows that it was India that supported insurgents in East Pakistan , which resulted in the dismemberment of Pakistan’s eastern wing.

Commentary : Lack of troops, strategy hampering Afghan campaign: think-tank

Posted on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 11:45PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

Chatham House researchers, a leading British foreign affairs think-tank, opine that NATO is unable to beat the Taliban and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, because of lack of resources and planning.

They are of the opinion that NATO and coalition have failed to o develop a "coherent approach to deal with the Taliban.

In my opinion, NATO and coalition do not want to solve the problem. They want to keep Afghanistan in perpetual crisis to justify their presence in Afghanistan. Even a fool knows that they are here to contain China and Iran. They also want to keep an eye on Pakistan , the sole Muslim nuclear power.

Turkey Takes Step Toward Iraq Operation

Posted on Monday, October 15, 2007 at 11:40PM by Registered CommenterMunaeem in | CommentsPost a Comment

The Turkish government has made a request to the parliamentary to accord approval for military action against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq.

Ankara says it want to destroy the bases of PKK fighters, who launch attacks inside Turkey. According to reports American diplomats arrived in Ankara to persuade the Turkey to refrain from military action. But it looks Turks are not in a mood to pay heed to American advice. They are very angry at Americans after the passage of Armenian bill.

Media is criticizing Turkey for shelling the Kurdish areas. They are little bit justified. Turks should not target civilians for the crimes of PKK. I know they suffered heavy causalities since September. According to reports, 30 Turkish have died from attacks.

In my opinion , PPK high commands should start  negotiations with the Turks and try to find out a peace solution to the problem.
