Natural gas reserve in Sindh

 According to recent news, there have been several gas reserve discoveries in Sindh, Pakistan. Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) announced a gas discovery at an exploratory well in Sindh, with a gas flow rate of 5.1 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) in January 2023

. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) also announced the discovery of gas reserves in an exploratory well in District Dadu, Sindh in April 2023

. In June 2022, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) discovered new gas reserves in the Ghotki district of Sindh

. Additionally, Qadirpur gas field is one of the major gas reserves of Pakistan, located at a distance of 8 kilometers from Ghotki in Sindh Province

. However, gas production has been on the wane due to an estimated 15% per year depletion in the country’s gas reserves amid no new major discovery for over two decades
