Who are supporting and financing Baloch Liberation Army ?

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is a Baloch ethnonationalist militant organization fighting against the Pakistani government for greater regional autonomy for the province of Balochistan. The group seeks independence from Pakistan and to rid the region from foreign exploitation and intervention.

While it is difficult to determine the exact sources of support and financing for the BLA, there have been reports of support from various sources. Some reports suggest that the BLA receives support from Baloch tribes, such as the Mengal tribes . Additionally, there have been allegations of support from external actors, although these claims are often disputed and lack concrete evidence

The BLA's sources of support and financing are not fully known, but it is believed to receive funding from a variety of sources, including:

  1. Baloch diaspora communities in Europe and North America
  2. Private donors in the Middle East
  3. Other Baloch militant groups
  4. State actors, such as India and Afghanistan

In 2017, the United States Department of State designated the BLA as a terrorist organization. This designation makes it illegal for US citizens or businesses to provide material support to the BLA.

The BLA has carried out a number of high-profile attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians in recent years. In 2018, the group claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that killed 14 people in the city of Quetta. In 2021, the BLA claimed responsibility for a car bomb attack that killed 10 people in the city of Gwadar.

The BLA's activities have caused significant instability and insecurity in Balochistan. The group's attacks have also strained relations between Pakistan and its neighbors, Afghanistan and India.
