Problem in Uterus : What is endometriosis?

  Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus, called the endometrium, grows outside of the uterus 6 .  It most commonly occurs in the lower abdomen or pelvis, but it can appear anywhere in the body 6 . When and where can endometriosis occur? Endometriosis can occur in women from the onset of their first period (menarche) through menopause 5 .  It can affect women regardless of their ethnic origin or social status 5 . Symptoms: How do you recognize endometriosis? The primary symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain, often associated with menstrual periods 1 .  Other symptoms may include: Excessive menstrual cramps Abnormal or heavy menstrual flow Pain during intercourse Difficulty getting pregnant 4 6 Why does the pain often come back periodically?
